According to intelligence received by the city council’s public Protection team, a store in the London Road area of Liverpool city centre had a large number of illegal e-cigarettes, and more than 3,500 e-cigarettes with a total street value of £42,000 were seized during the inspection.

Matt Ashton, director of public health at Liverpool City Council, said: “This work sends a clear message to other retailers dealing in illegal products in our city. If someone is illegally selling alcohol or tobacco products, they can anonymously report it to the Department of Alcohol and Tobacco, and they can also report sales to people under the age of 18 on the “Report Illicit Transactions” page:
