A third of Polish students aged 16-17 have been exposed to nicotine. For teens, the addiction is e-cigarettes, which are popular among teens, with up to 78.1 percent of students regularly using e-cigarettes, mainly because of their sweet and fruity taste. Twenty-four percent of students admitted to smoking and 7.4 percent admitted to using tobacco heaters. The shocking figures come from a youth survey of 1,000 people, all teenagers from across Poland.
According to the survey, harmful addictions most often started by minors were e-cigarettes (57.78%) and cigarettes (40.95%). To some extent, addiction among young people is caused by tobacco heaters (0.89%) and other nicotine products (0.36%).
Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna said at the meeting that she hoped to ban the sale of single-use e-cigarettes in Poland from the autumn.
